Position and Qualifications
The Department of Modern Languages includes two separate major programs of study in Spanish and French and courses in Japanese and German. Each of the programs uses an interdisciplinary approach with some shared courses and collaborative teaching based on the common research and teaching interests of faculty members. Hollins University places a high value on interdisciplinarity in its course offerings.
The ideal candidate will be a committed teacher of Japanese that has experience teaching online. Applicants must be able to teach introduction to Japanese, and depending on enrollment, an intermediate Japanese course. The position carries a course load of one or two courses per semester.
Candidates must have either a completed an M.A., Ph.D. or A.B.D. in Japanese or a related discipline and be able to demonstrate a clear commitment to teaching excellence and innovation at a liberal arts institution.
