Kutztown University of Pennsylvania enrolls approximately 8,000 students in graduate and undergraduate programs. The university is located in the borough of Kutztown in a charming rural setting, and is within 20 minutes driving time of the diverse metropolitan areas of Allentown/Bethlehem and Reading, and within 60 minutes of the Philadelphia metropolitan area. The university is very interested in hiring employees who have had extensive experience with diverse populations.

The Department of Music at Kutztown University invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track Assistant Professor position beginning Fall 2024. The department seeks candidates with proven success and experience as a Director of Choral Studies (large choir and voice ensembles) and an applied voice instructor. Other duties assigned according to departmental needs. This position can be eligible for rollover and is not a one-year replacement position, such as for a sabbatical. Preference may be given to those candidates with proven success in student recruitment, public school teaching experience, and the ability to teach conducting and choral methods.

In accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement, performance review and evaluation of faculty is based on effective teaching and fulfillment of professional responsibilities; continuing scholarly growth; and service. Required: Masters in Music (degree requirements include: Music, Music Performance, Music Education, or a related music field) and a minimum of one academic year of related teaching experience. Preferred: Doctorate in Music. Teaching in distance learning format may be required. Note: if course(s) format would change to hybrid and/or online, it will require successful completion of the Teaching Online Certification Course offered through Kutztown University.

A candidate is required to successfully complete the interview process including demonstration of teaching and conducting to be considered a finalist. Recommendation for hiring is required from a majority of the regular, full-time faculty within the department.
