Executive Staff Assistant

Salary: Salary Commensurate with Experience
Location: East Lansing

Position Summary

The College of Education is seeking a highly skilled and independent professional to serve as Executive Staff Assistant (ESA) to support the Dean of the College of Education. The incumbent will use their strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and communication skills to provide executive-level administrative support to the Dean. On a daily basis, the ESA will serve as a point of contact with students, faculty, staff, administrators, executives, and the public in support of the dean. The incumbent will also handle the complex scheduling of appointments, calendar of events, and office operations. The ESA will collaborate with office staff in supporting the college mission and activities.
 
This is a hybrid work position.

Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

Knowledge normally acquired through a high school education with course work in word processing, typing, shorthand, and grammar; five to eight years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive University work experience in maintaining account ledgers, word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software; editing, composing correspondence, taking dictation; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Desired Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in business, education, or a related field; experience with Enterprise Business Systems including SAP, Kuali Financial System, and Business Intelligence
  • Experience with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Experience with Desire 2 Learn software
  • Experience with Adobe Acrobat
  • Proficient in the use of both MAC and PC operating systems
  • Ability to manage complex schedules
  • Ability to work independently and with confidence to take initiative to be proactive; sensitivity to and appropriate handling of confidential information; detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy, resourcefulness, and efficiency; demonstrated excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to interact with varied constituents in a timely, courteous, and professional manner
  • Ability to use sophistication in interfacing with outside clients
  • Demonstrates work orientation that includes a focus on service, problem solving, teamwork, adaptability to change, a positive attitude, and continuous learning for self-improvement.
