Director & Instructor, Construction Management
Position Summary: 
This non-tenure track position is focused in two areas: 50%, on the establishment and management of a new Construction Management program which includes student recruitment, promoting the program and advising students, and 50% course development and teaching responsibilities. Teaching will be primarily in the foundational areas of construction, construction management, and heavy construction. Candidates for this position should have a strong record of professional construction, especially heavy construction-related industry experience in the US.

As part of their professional development and service, the faculty member will have the opportunity to advance the department’s student success initiatives as related to the program across campuses. These opportunities could include building student pipelines and pathways, improving student retention, building student communities, and establishing university-community and university-industry partnerships in support of student projects and internship experiences. The faculty will also be required to participate internal and external trainings to grow philanthropic support and work closely with the University’s Advancement team. As such, candidates will have a history of actively working with colleagues to lead and support departmental and university initiatives.

Qualification Requirements: 
  • Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Construction Management or related fields.
  • Construction, Heavy Construction Management, or related industry experience.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Graduate degree with more than 10 years of construction, especially heavy construction-related industry experience. Instructor is a professional who can provide documented proof of their professional accomplishments and has acquired a local or regional or national reputation in their fields.
  • Evidence of prior online teaching in higher education, excellent teaching evaluations in discipline, relevant construction, especially heavy-construction-related industry experience and experienced in establishing/maintaining relations with critical leaders/companies in the construction industry in the region.
  • Candidates must have experience with academic technologies and delivery platforms and should have a level of creativity to engage with technology to create forward-facing academic content to engage learners. Demonstrated experience with construction technologies and equipment to create an industry-ready graduate.
  • Ph.D. or terminal degree in construction management, heavy construction, engineering management, or a related discipline.
    Research: History of a current applicable research program through applied or empirical research.
  • Demonstrated ability in teaching, both in person and online.
