Job Summary

The Human Resource and Labor Relations Specialist will provide a broad range of professional employee and labor relations activities including but not limited to: employee consulting, training, conflict resolution, complaint investigation, policy development and interpretation, and the preparation and delivery of related summary reports recommendations.

Authority and Accountability

This position will report to the Director of Employee Experience and will have no direct reports.

Required/Minimum Qualifications

The items listed below are representative of the education, knowledge, skills, abilities, and other characteristics required for this position. Please include minimum level of education, degrees required (if any), relevant work experience, credentials, licenses, certifications, special skills, and physical requirements.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Labor Relations, Business, or related field.
  • At least three years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent time management skills with the proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Thorough understanding of laws, regulations, and guidelines related to HR and contract negotiations.
  • High level of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software. 
 

Preferred Qualifications
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP
  • SHRM Workplace Investigations Credential
  • Master’s Degree
  • Professional training in labor law or collective bargaining
  • At least five years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
 

Physical Requirements
  • Campus and travel to various external sites, office environment
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
