Under the leadership of President Karen Riley, Slippery Rock University is poised to meet enrollment trends and increased competition with vigor.SRUis a community ready to take on challenges and seek out new opportunities. Building on previous success, the University is launching a new strategic plan, which will guide our efforts as we develop and enhance campus-wide initiatives with a laser focus on becoming a first-choice organization. That means being first choice for students and first choice for employees which includes increasing the diversity of our faculty and staff.
As a strategic executive leader, you will be responsible for developing a comprehensive public relations and communication plan that will enhance the University's image and position regionally and nationally. As an effective and dynamic communicator, you will ensure that theSRUbrand is communicated to constituents, both internal and external, which are tied directly to SRU's mission, vision, and strategic plan.
You will lead, guide, and direct theUMCteam, sharing your vision for success, and developing a cohesive and engaged team, promoting opportunities for professional growth, whereby establishing a premier communication and marketing department for the campus.
You will be responsible for maintaining positive and engaging professional relationships with media representatives and coordinating strategic approaches that drive college priorities.
You will contribute to a culture in which partnering with other offices, academic departments, and external agencies is a priority. As such, you will also be asked to weigh in on strategic decisions through the lens of branding, reputation management, inclusive messaging, and risk management.
Minimum salary is $100k, depending on qualifications. In addition,SRUprovides a comprehensive package of employer benefits to eligible employees and their enrolled dependent(s), which include:
10+ years of progressive leadership experience
Bachelor's degree
A commitment to promoting diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.
Successful performance in an on-campus interview.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience managing and developing professionals
Experience working in marketing and communication at a 4-year college or university
Demonstrated results in media relations, including pitching stories and preparing subject matter experts for interviews
Experience in crisis management and serving as the organizational spokesperson
Master's degree in a related field
