The Adjutant General commands the Ohio National Guard, which consists of the Ohio Army National Guard, Ohio Air National Guard, Ohio Military Reserve, and Ohio Naval Militia.

The Adjutant General Department is committed to serving the Ohio National Guard and the citizens of the State of Ohio. Our employees and our citizens are a key component to our success. Most of our operational force is made up of traditional guard members. Which means that 80% of our soldiers and airmen are living, working, and raising families in the local community but also ready to deploy at a moment’s notice with their active-duty counterparts. Between drill weekends, annual training periods and deployments, the Ohio Guard is administered, trained, and equipped through the efforts of the other 20 percent of our force that makes up the full-time staff. They include federal civil service technicians, federal Active Guard Reserve (AGR) military members and State of Ohio civilian employees. They are the core of the force, ensuring that our traditional Guard members are always ready to accomplish the mission.
