The University of Missouri, Columbia is seeking applicants for a non-tenure track Associate Teaching Professor of Music Theory and Director of Undergraduate Studies.

The successful candidate will: (1) Provide classroom instruction in Music Theory as assigned including supervision of undergraduate and graduate research projects, service on thesis committees, and coordination of aural training and sight singing programs; (2) Oversee undergraduate academic programs and accreditation process; coordinate advising of students, admissions, and degree program requirements for undergraduates; oversee School of Music publications and website for accuracy regarding academic programs; (3) Provide service to the School of Music, university and the profession.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

PhD in Music Theory is required.

Candidates will be evaluated on background in teaching Music Theory, background in both performance and academic music, ability to assess student understanding of music-theoretic concepts and recommend plans for improvement, knowledge of compositional techniques in a wide variety of musical genres and ability to sing tonal melodies while conducting at high level of proficiency.
