Administrative Director



Administrator for the Department of Medicine Division of Cardiology, and the Vascular Medicine Institute (VMI). This position serves in an advanced administrative professional capacity supervising all pre- and post-award activities and staff, as well as oversight of the overall financial health of both Cardiology Research and the VMI. The incumbent will provide the business and financial direction, strategic direction and decision making, consultation and assistance to all departmental faculty and staff of pre and post award research activities including grants and contracts. The incumbent is responsible for operational, financial, and strategic decision-making; policy development and implementation; and development of efficient business practices. The incumbent is responsible for budget preparation, and financial forecasting, oversees all grant contract negotiations, budget development and negotiation, post-award accounting, seed account monitoring and analysis and reporting and funding analysis. Incumbent is also responsible for interpreting and implementing University policies and procedures as well as developing policies and procedures to fit unusual or complex situations. Determines staffing requirements for both Cardiology and VMI. Recommends and is accountable for the implementation of policies and procedures for extramural grant and clinical trials development, processing, financial compliance and management. Coordinates all research activity for the Cardiology and VMI. Prepares annual Pitt budget for both Cardiology and VMI. Authorizes and approves purchases, requisitions and reimbursement requests. Serves as the VMI and Cardiology administrative representative on Department-wide initiatives and committees.

Oversees strategic planning, future direction of programs, and allocation of resources. Controls expenditures and directs special projects.

Light - Little physical effort required. Duties are primarily sedentary. Incumbent will be required to report to campus and participate in in-person meetings.
