Senior Research Technician



The overall goal of the Choi Lab is to uncover cellular mechanisms that can improve response to radiotherapy for patients with brain tumors. The focus of the laboratory is to understand how targeting a glucose transport can alter response to radiotherapy (including effects on tumor metabolism and immune dysregulation) for brain metastases and glioblastoma.

Job Responsibilities:

Responsible for ordering for the lab and maintaining lab equipment.

Perform in vitro and in vivo assays to evaluate effects of drugs and genetic modifications on radiation sensitivity of cell lines and tumors.

Willingness to learn new techniques and optimize experiments.

Responsible for training other laboratory personnel.

Maintaining an accurate and complete laboratory notebook detailing all experiments.

Meet with PI regularly to discuss work in progress.

Maintaining patient confidentiality of patient samples.

Qualifications/Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree.

At least three years of laboratory research experience is preferred.

Ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Experience with cell culture is preferred.

Excellent written and oral communication skills.


Job Summary

Performs a variety of independent and complex laboratory work and experiments. Analyzes and interprets data, compiles results, and prepares reports. Maintains inventory, ordering, and logs. Writes manuscripts and grant proposals and prepares data visualizations.


Essential Functions

Must be highly organized with a high level of attention to detail. The ability to multitask and work with multiple groups of people is imperative.


Physical Effort

Little physical effort required. Duties are primarily sedentary. May be required to move objects up to 25 pounds occasionally.
