Veterans Benefits Supervisor



The Veterans Benefits Supervisor is part of the Office of Veterans Services (OVS) which provides support services to veterans and dependents across the University. OVS facilitates the transition of veterans from military to University life, supports their ongoing academic success, and assists veterans, guardsmen, reservists, spouses, and their dependents in receiving their education benefits. A primary responsibility of this role is to act as a School Certifying Official and be responsible for properly and accurately processing and certifying all military educational benefits for a caseload of the military- affiliated population at the University. The Veterans Benefit Supervisor executes all required functions related to processing and certifying education benefits by providing direction and counsel to students to determine their eligibility for various types of education benefits, identifying other financial assistance available to students, such as grants and scholarships, accurately processing military education benefit applications in accordance with federal, state, Veterans Affair (VA), and University regulations and guidelines, and managing the convergence of a variety of funding sources. Other responsibilities include certification in the relevant VA software/system(s) and maintaining comprehensive student records, which are subject to audit by the Pennsylvania Department of Education, the State Approving Agency, and the Department of Veterans Affairs.

The incumbent will also create engaging social media content to support marketing initiatives, to increase student awareness, and to make the Office of Veterans Services more visible on and off campus. Additionally, this role will develop and maintain an editorial calendar to ensure consistent content creation and delivery, and will be able to analyze metrics that inform future content strategies. Creates, reviews, and edits content for the Office of Veterans Services, which will be published on the University's websites and social media pages.


Job Summary

Serves as the primary official responsible for processing and certifying all military education benefits for the entire military-affiliated population at the University. Provides direction and counsel to students regarding education benefits and financial assistance. Processes military benefit applications, manages the convergence of a variety of funding sources, and complies with policies, procedures, and regulations.


Essential Functions

Must be able to use a computer and keyboard and be able to use video communication technology (i.e., Zoom, Teams, etc.). Work is frequently conducted by email, telephone, in-person, and/or using video communications technology. The ability to communicate in a clear and concise fashion is essential. Experience with content creation, video editing, and web publishing is strongly preferred.


Physical Effort

Minimal physical effort required. This position is generally sedentary within an office setting.
