Job Description Summary

The research assistant will support Dr. Young by performing laboratory experiments that test the efficacy of a new nutrient treatment material. The research assistant may also support Dr. Young with performing literature reviews and writing research papers.

Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
This position is ideal for a student that has recently graduated from High School and is taking a one-year break before starting college. The research assistant should have at least a 3.0 GPA in high school, and the transcript must show some laboratory experience. The student must practice high quality organizational skills and professional communication.

Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
The ideal candidate should show an interest in environmental and water quality issues through previous coursework and extracurricular experiences. Exposure to computer programming and data analysis skills is also desirable.

Physical Requirements:
The research assistant must be able capable of performing experiments in a BLS-2 lab.

Accountabilities:
The research assistant will meet with Dr. Young every one to two weeks and will communicate efficiently regarding laboratory and data needs.
